Mahatma Gandhi was the
greatest world leader of the
20th century. He is called the ‘Father of the Nation’ in India.
He was born on October 2, 1869 in Porbandar in Gujarat. After studying law in England, he went to South Africa to practice law.
He was not treated well there because he was not a white man. He protested against the policy of discrimination of the government for many years and at last the Indians were given a few rights.
Then he returned to India. Here he fought for the freedom of the country. His weapons were ‘truth’ and ‘non-violence’. At last India got its freedom on August 15, 1947.
But Mahatma Gandhi was shot by Nathuram Godse on January 30, 1948.

Who am I?

I am a little thing
I fly from flower to flower
I have a big hive
Where I have my family
I have a big queen
Who lays so many eggs
I am a little thing
That buzzes around
Oh! I am a little bee
Everyday I fly from flower to flower
I do not stop working at all
Oh! I’m just a little bee

My trip to Bopath Ella
By Fazla Azmi (Grade 6),
Mukarramah Int. School
It was the night before Christmas when we decided to go on a trip. We had many ideas, but decided on a trip to Bopath Ella Falls.
It was Christmas Day and I got up early in the morning. I waited eagerly to begin our trip and at about 9.30 we started out.
We went by van. Some of my relatives also joined us. On the way we took our breakfast.
We enjoyed a lot even inside the van. We sang songs, danced, said jokes and also shared our feelings.
At last we arrived at the place. It was 11.30 and I was still waiting to see the falls. We took our towels and other necessary items. First we crossed a small water-path and then went to the falls.
What an amazing place! It was very beautiful to see. It is in the shape of a Bo leaf. We
bathed there and took many
photographs.
Finally we came out and our departure time was 5p.m. We enjoyed ourselves and were very happy. This was an unforgettable day in my life.
