Brunel University has always placed great emphasis on integrating work skills into courses, as well as providing high-quality advice and support to students’ searching for jobs.
The Placement and Careers Centre (PCC) is Brunel’s on-campus professional guidance service. Whether you’re thinking about your career, looking for part-time or vacation work, or planning a sandwich placement, the PCC’s staff can help. The university advertises opportunities with a wide range of employers and also employs students in jobs on campus. Last year, Brunel students earned a total of over £500,000 from on-campus jobs.
Furthermore, with a dedicated International Careers Advisor, Brunel’s international students are given full support in their search for employment – both during, and up to two years after, their studies.
Voluntary work, however, can be equally valuable, both for your personal development and for your employment prospects, and the university promotes volunteering opportunities, both on the campus and with the local and wider community.
We welcome an exciting new development
The careers team in Brunel International has created a new site where you can watch, listen to and read about former Brunel students from around the world. Find out what they thought of their time here and how the University prepared them for their careers. Read their advice on finding your perfect job. Then see what they’re doing now. It’s all at www.brunel.workglobal.org
Recognition for our Work
www.ratemyplacement.co.uk has recognised our Placement & Careers Centre again through its National Placement & Internship Awards.
Having won ‘Best placement service’ in 2010, the team scooped the ‘University with a forward-thinking attitude to work-based learning’ award 2011. This was for the help it provides to students with placements, part-time work and career planning. It is unprecedented that a service can win the award three times consecutively, however, votes from students and employers confirmed that Brunel’s Placement & Careers Service is the best in the country.

Student success stories
Brunel graduates enjoy the 13th highest starting salaries in the UK, according to the Sunday Times Good University Guide.
Almost 90% are also in full-time paid work and/or further study. Our students have moved on to work in a variety of sectors, including large blue-chip multinational companies such as KPMG, Barclays Bank, Glaxosmithkline, Microsoft, BBC, Morgan Stanley, Mclaren Cars and Apple Inc.
A number of our Sri Lankan students have successfully secured placements and full-time work. For example, one Brunel student who is studying Mathematics with Computer Science was recently hired by Intel as a project management intern, while another student from Colombo was employed for a position at UBS.
