World Thinking Day 2012 was celebrated and enjoyed by Little Friends, Guides and Senior Guides across Sri Lanka on February 22.
The theme this year was “We can save our planet”.
Activities related to this theme were organized in each province. They ranged from managing polythene waste and making vegetable beds to addressing landslides and initiating garbage
disposal projects.
Further, each Company/Pack planted their own “Thinking Day Tree” to
commemorate World Thinking Day, with many Packs and Companies organising a World Thinking Day Programme in their schools.
Here are a few photographs of Thinking Day

Celebrating 95 years in their own unique style ...
Did you know that 2012 marks 95 years of Girl Guiding in
Sri Lanka? To mark the
occasion, the Sri Lanka Girl Guides Association will be
conducting a Girl Guide Assembly on April 7, 2012 to help “stop violence against women”
in Sri Lanka.
There will be a team of
12 representatives from each
province at the Assembly, which will include 3 Senior Guides,
3 Guides, 3 non guides and
3 youth.
The provinces have been assigned topics related to
violence against women and
girls to research and prepare
position papers and present them in order to strengthen the
statement prepared by the
leadership of the Association. The topics given are, Domestic Violence, Child Abuse, Child Labour, Rape and Molestation.
The research and findings will be on:
• National position of the problem
• Action taken to reduce the
problem nationally
• Global situation of the problem
• Global action
• What Girl Guides can do regarding the problem in their provinces
The Association hopes that the outcome of this Assembly will be taken up for consideration by the higher authorities. |
