Sri Lanka Tourism officials were yet again not allowed to participate at a key travel event.
Managing Director Rumy Jauffer and the Officer in charge of the Middle Eastern market whose names were sent for participation at the Arabian Travel Mart were rejected by local authorities, informed sources said.
Officials have not received approval to attend on many occasions including the World Travel Mart in the UK and ITB travel fair in Berlin as well, owing to budget constraints. The sources said this time the name of the Sri Lanka Tourism Chairman Dr. Nalaka Godahewa was not sent. He had been rejected from participating at previous travel fairs. Sri Lanka’s participation with 57 companies at the travel fair that commenced last week was coordinated by the Consular General in Dubai Abdul Rahim.
