Hundreds of people are queuing up at kovils and temples in various parts of the country for poojas and offerings to overcome what they believe to be the ill-effects of the Jupiter planetary change.
The planetary change began on May 17 and may last one year, prompting people to seek divine blessings to ward off the Jupiter malefic. Our Kataragama correspondent K.D. Devapriya said large numbers including politicians and businessmen were turning up for poojas in view of the planetary change.
Similar crowds were seen at the Munneswaram temple in Chilaw yesterday. Popular Astrologer Chintha Wickremesinghe said the people were not only holding poojas to overcome the ill-effects, but some of them were making offerings to get the blessings of the planetary change. |
