St. Bees to tour Sri Lanka

St. Bees School from Cumbria, England will arrive in Sri Lanka on December 12 to play in four limited over matches at the invitation of Wycherley International School.

The visitors will be pitted against Wycherley International School and Stafford International School on December 14 and 16 respectively at Police Park, Bambalapitiya.

In two other matches St. Bees will take on Maris Stella on December 15 at Negombo and Trinity at the Asgiriya Stadium on December 18.

The co-ordinator of this tour is Lalith Jayasundera.


Richmond hold Royal

The inter school cricket match between Royal and Richmond ended in a tame draw at Reid Avenue yesterday.

Richmond - 213 for 8 dec 78.4 overs in 325m ( P. St. Peter's win

St. Peter's scored a six wicket win over President's College Rajagiriya in inter school cricket match at Bamabalapitiya yesterday.St Peter's who needed 40 runs to win the match reached the score for the loss of four wickets.


Signature Cologne Squash 1997

Signature Men's Cologne will be sponsoring the 1997 Squash Championships which is organised by the Sri Lanka Squash Federation and promoted by Otter Aquatic Club. The sponsors of this event are I.C.L. Marketing (Private) Ltd.

The Signature Cologne Squash Championship 1997 will have Sri Lanka's ranked players taking part and is therefore bound to create fierce competition which will result in excellent performances.

The preliminary round matches will be held at the Otter Aquatic Club Squash Courts from October 19 to 25 while the finals will be held at the courts of the Hotel Ceylon Intercontinental on October 26.

The winner of the Men's Open event will receive the "Signature" Challenge Trophy while the Ladies Open Champion will be awarded the "Optimum" Challenge Cup.


STC at rugger

The Old Thomians will take on the present Thomians in a rugby encounter to be played on Octover 18 at CR & FC grounds at Longden place at 5.15 p.m.

The Thomian stars of yesteryear, Michael Jayasekera, Chaminda Rupasinghe, Kolitha Gunatilleka, Gihan Dias, Nalin Wijegunawardena, Suresh Fernando, Sajith Gunaratne (Havies), Asanga Seneviratne, Charya de Saram, Savantha de Saram, H.C. Perera, Ajantha Cooray, Chelaka Hapugoda (CR & FC) are expected to don the Old Thomians jersey.

Any Old Thomian interested in playing should contact, Charya de Saram on 697272. Sanjeewa Saranapala will control this game.


Rally wizard

Richard de Zoysa made a tremendous impact in his debut rally in an FIA approved event in Kenya last week driving a Group N Subaru Legacy, which he purchased in Kenya.

His performance in Kenya was spectacular where he was given wide coverage in the press and TV. De Zoysa is making detailed preparations to compete in the World Rally Championship, the 555 Safari Rally in February 1998.
