Sri Lanka's Day of Shame in SharjahSharjah, Saturday - With bad batting, worse bowling and utterly deplorable bowling, world champions Sri Lanka today plunged to one of their most humiliating defeats against Zimbabwe in the Champions' Trophy match today. After folding up for a paltry 196, Sri Lanka's bowling was miserable without their star spinner Muttiah Muralitharan, Shoddy fielding contributed to the mess for world champions as Zimbabwe zoomed to an emphatic victory by seven wickets in 46.1 overs. Today's debacle came in the aftermath of Sri Lanka's defeat against India on Friday, where hundreds of Lankan fans felt that the match was thrown away by gross blunder in the final overs. Skipper Arjuna Ranatunga persisted with spinner Kumar Dharmasena who was getting thrashed while strike bowler Chaminda Vaas, who was in top form, was kept out though he had two more overs. Grant Flower was unbeaten on 87 and Andy Flower was not out with 24 to give Zimbabwe this comfortable seven wicket victory. This pair batted with great courage and determination and had all the time in the world to guide Zimbabwe towards the win. Earlier world champions Sri Lanka were propped up by two half centuries from Aravinda de Silva and Roshan Mahanama were bundled out for 196 by Zimbabwe.

Visas are only needed when one goes abroad! How come?A leading cricketer has gone on record, that he had muttered to certain highups that journalists could be bought over for a bottle!
