Maligawa gets new lighting

As all eyes shift to Kandy for the Esala perahera, a new lighting system will illuminate the historic Dalada Maligawa.





Designed jointly by Hayleys Electronics (Lighting) Ltd. and Philips of Holland, the special lighting which includes the world's smallest floodlights created especially for the Maligawa and state-of-the art fibre-optic systems (pictured right above) is a gift from the two companies.

The lighting system is valued at Rs. 8 million and was inaugurated on Sunday by President Chandrika Kumaratunga.
