The Colombo Tea Auction resumed this week since the devastation of the Ditwah cyclone struck paralysing transportation. Forbes & Walker in its market report this week stated that the cyclone had caused only limited disruptions to the tea industry.
The report noted that the auction witnessed a buoyant market all round emanating perhaps partially due to an absence of an auction last week. There was improved activity for the liquoring teas and teas at the lower end of the market continued strong in almost all categories. (SD)
