C. W. Mackie PLC, a renowned conglomerate dedicated to manufacturing, exporting, and importing an extensive array of products has demonstrated a strong commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility over the years.

Its most recent endeavour has been a contribution to the Anuradhapura Teaching Hospital. As part of its commitment to enhancing healthcare facilities in line with its CSR policy, the company has taken on the task of renovating the Accident and Emergency Ward, aiming to improve the quality of emergency medical care for patients in critical conditions. Additionally, the organisation is making significant strides by constructing a new mini-operating theatre, which will be attached to the accident ward, the company said in a media release.

Mangala Perera, Executive Director of C. W. Mackie PLC and Project Chair for CSR hospital projects drives this phase of the long-standing engagement of C.W. Mackie with Sri Lanka's healthcare sector, dating back to the 1990s. The company's initial involvement began with the renovation of the surgical ward at the National Hospital of Sri Lanka (NHSL) in Colombo. This early contribution demonstrated their dedication to enhancing medical facilities.

In 2016, C.W. Mackie PLC continued its commitment to improving healthcare by undertaking the renovation of the 32nd ward at NHSL, further augmenting the hospital's capacity to deliver top-notch medical care. The company's philanthropic endeavours extend beyond Colombo, reaching out to communities in need. An example of this commitment is the generous support provided to Ward No. 10 of Horana Base Hospital. Through these substantial contributions, C.W. Mackie PLC has played a vital role in supporting healthcare services and facilities in Sri Lanka. Their efforts have not only benefitted the local communities but have also strengthened the overall healthcare system in the country.

Speaking about C.W. Mackie PLC's CSR program, the Acting Director of Anuradhapura Teaching Hospital, Dr. Dulan Samaraweera hailed it as a momentous occasion in the hospital's history. With heartfelt gratitude, Dr. Dulan Samaraweera extended thanks to the management and staff of C.W. Mackie PLC for their exceptional contribution to renovating the Accident and Emergency ward and establishing a mini operation theatre.
