Tea production in January this year has come down marginally by 2.13 per cent.
Total tea production in January was at 18.73 million kg compared to 19.14 million kg in the same month in 2023 and showing a drop of 0.41 million kg, the Forbes and Walker report for January stated. All elevations except for the Medium Grown Elevation have shown a decrease in comparison with the corresponding period of 2023.
When compared to production figures in January 2022 that stood at 22.87 million kg this year’s crop has shown a decrease of 4.14 million kg. (SD)
