The Colombo Tea Auction saw 6.96 million kg of tea on offer this week of which 2.80 million kg were Low Grown Main Grades and 2.47 million kg were High and Mid Grown Main Grades.
Better Western BOPs moved up Rs. 50 to Rs. 100 with select lines gaining further on special inquiry; others moved up Rs. 20 to Rs. 50. Better BOPFs were dearer Rs. 50 to Rs. 100; others were irregularly dearer Rs. 50 to Rs. 80. Plainer well-made teas moved up further Rs. 20. Bottom gained Rs. 50 per kg. Nuwara Eliya BOP / BOPFs were neglected.
Select best Udapussellawa BOPs moved up Rs. 100 on average; others were firm. Best BOPFs gained Rs. 50; others held last levels. Best Uva BOPs gained Rs. 50; others generally held last levels. BOPFs moved up Rs. 50 to Rs. 100; bottom was fully firm to Rs. 50 dearer. Stylish Medium BOPs were irregular; others gained Rs. 50 following general trend, BOPFs were fully firm on last. CTC BP1 was irregular. High priced PF1s were fully firm. Some liquoring teas dearer upto Rs. 50; bottom firm.
