MAS Intimates opens Intermediate Care Centre in North-Western Province

MAS Intimates, the largest division of Sri Lanka's leading apparel manufacturer MAS Holdings (Pvt) Ltd, has established an Intermediate Care Centre consisting of 450 beds which was opened on July 1.

The Centre, situated in Polgahawela, was set up with the support of the Sri Lanka Army for the benefit and treatment of employees, their families and the general public in the North-Western Province, amidst the challenges faced due to the rapid spread of the virus across the region.

This Intermediate Care Centre, built at a cost of over Rs. 48 million, was declared open by the Governor of the North Western Province, Raja Collure. Rajiv Dharmendra, CEO of MAS Intimates and Ruwan Keragala, Director of Production and Operations along with Director – Manufacturing, MAS Intimates, Rohan Daulagala were present at the occasion.

This Intermediate Care Centre, established under the supervision of Dr. M.K. Sampath Indika Kumara, Provincial Director, North Western Provincial Health Department, has been set up with special facilities to accommodate the needs of critical COVID-19 patients. The Centre hosts a High Dependency Unit and special facilities that can accommodate up to 20 patients with high levels of infection. The Centre has been structured keeping in mind the safety and convenience of doctors, with the capability to monitor oxygen levels of any patient as well as CCTV observation of patients, MAS said in a media release.

The Polgahawela Regional Hospital provides necessary patient care services to the patients at the Care Centre, and the North-Western Provincial Health Services and the North-Western Provincial Cooperative Development Department act as key stakeholders.
