NDB Bank honours pensioners on National Pension Day with a special celebration

In commemoration of National Pension Day on October 8, NDB Bank organised a pension day celebration at the Thimbirigasyaya Divisional Secretariat on October 12 in appreciation of the dedicated public servants who have spent their lives in service to the nation. This special event, attended by over 200 pensioners from the Colombo district, was a touching gesture to honour their unwavering commitment.

The event, hosted by NDB Bank, was not only a platform for recognising these pensioners but also an opportunity to provide them with a range of services, including a free medical clinic, a medical advice programme, and a comprehensive financial management advisory workshop. These services were designed to empower the pensioners and ensure their well-being in their post-retirement years, NDB said in a media release.

Among the distinguished guests in attendance were Ms. D.L.I. Anuththara, accountant from the Thimbirigasyaya - Divisional Secretariat;. U. H. Hemapala, Chairman of the Public Service Pensioners Trust Fund – Thimbirigasyaya; and B.C.P. Perera, Chairman of the Public Service Pensioners Trust Fund - Sri Jayawardhanapura Kotte. NDB Bank was represented by its Assistant Vice President Sales - Sameera Senarath, Assistant Vice President of Retail Credit - Indika Tennakoon, Assistant Vice President Colombo Region and Product Development - Sydney Downwall, Senior Manager of Personal Financial Solutions - Ms. Nadeeka De Alwis and Manager of Sales Pension Loans - Wijaya Kumara, including a number of NDB employees.

The medical clinic conducted during the event was sponsored by Melsta Laboratories Pvt. Ltd., highlighting the spirit of collaboration and support for the pensioners and their well-being.

Addressing the gathered pensioners and dignitaries, Mr. Senarath - Assistant Vice President Sales of NDB Bank, emphasised the significance of the occasion by stating: "Today, NDB Bank has organised this appreciation ceremony, devoid of any financial motives, to honour the retirees who have dedicated their lives to public service. We recognise the selfless contributions they have made and aim to express our profound gratitude."

As a further testament to the bank’s commitment to pensioners, NDB Bank introduced the "Aachara" pensioners' Loan Facility. This initiative offers pensioners access to financial support by offering loans up to a maximum of 4.5 million Sri Lankan rupees without collateral under a concessionary rate of interest.
