There was 6.33 million kg of tea on offer at this week's Colombo Tea Auction with 2.56 million kg from low Grown Main Grades and 2.35 million kg from the High and Mid Grown Main Grades.
In the Leafy and Semi Leafy catalogues a few select best OP1/ BOP1s maintained, whilst others declined. Balance and poorer sorts were barely steady. A few invoices of Select best OP/OPAs were fully firm to marginally easier, whilst below best varieties declined.
In the Ex-Estate catalogues select better Western BOPs were dearer, all others were irregularly lower at Rs.20 to Rs.50. A few better BOPFs were firm to irrregularly dearer; others about firm. BOPFs followed a similar trend. Select Uva BOPs moved up sharply on special inquiry. Others were irregularly lower. BOPFs lost Rs.50 on average. Stylish Medium BOPs gained Rs.50; others were about firm. BOPFs gained Rs.20 to Rs.40. High priced CTC PF1s were firm; others were irregular with some liquoring teas losing Rs.50 per kg.
