Premium International celebrates 20 years of service excellence in healthcare technology and infrastructure

Business

Congratulations to Premium International on celebrating their 20th year anniversary with a grand event at the Lumina Ballroom of the Cinnamon Life, Sri Lankas’ newest and most iconic hotel.

Over the past two decades, Premium International has established a remarkable legacy of achievements that have significantly transformed Sri Lanka's healthcare landscape. The company has successfully executed numerous national-scale healthcare projects across the island, utilizing bilateral and donor funding. Furthermore, Premium International has been instrumental in introducing cutting-edge technology to Sri Lanka through exclusive partnerships with renowned healthcare technology brands such as Fujifilm, Fresenius Kabi, Werfen, Sakura, and Shinva.

Some of the unique innovations launched by the company include the exclusive Public Private Partnership agreement with the University of Moratuwa to set up Sri Lanka’s first ‘R & D laboratory for biomedical technologies’ and the design and fabrication of a 3-bed modular and transportable, fully equipped ICU to strengthen the critical care infrastructure in the country during the covid-19 pandemic.

The company was then able to showcase their unmatched engineering, project management, contract administration, healthcare and industrial technology supply and commissioning expertise when they were selected and awarded multiple contracts for the completion of the German Sri Lanka Friendship Hospital for Women at Karapitiya.

Progress of this 600-bed facility with over 550,00 sq ft had delayed significantly over a period of more that 10 years to the dismay of many but under the watchful eyes and professional expertise of Premium, within a period of 2.5 years, South Asia’s largest and most modern maternity hospital was completed and handed over to the nation with praise and applause from all stakeholders including and not limited to Kfw Bank Germany. GiTEC as the project manager and consultant and the Ministry of Health.

Premium’s entrance into the pharmaceutical industry commenced in 2012 by helping to strengthen and improve the production capacity at SPMC. Then, leading a consortium of Austrian, Chinese and Indian pharmaceutical design and manufacturing and regulatory companies, Premium completed the commissioning of Sri Lanka’s most advanced aseptic pharmaceutical plant in Koggala EPZ in 2024. Making further strides into the manufacturing sector Premium joined hands with George Steuarts to commission an ultra-modern pharmaceutical plant in Horana.
