Sri Lanka’s monthly tea production has been higher since March this year than 2022 with May recording a 2 per cent increase compared to last year. Total tea production for May was up at 26.52 million kg.
For the period January - May 2023 Low Growns have caught up with last year with a quantity of 66.2 million kg. Following a strong performance in April and May, High Growns have reached 26.3 million kg and narrowed the gap with last year.
Similarly, Mediums at 18.5 million kg are on their way to be ahead of end of June. (SD)
