SLIC MD Bangsa Jayah refuses to quit The state-owned Sri Lanka Insurance Corporation Ltd’s (SLIC) former 'Managing Director (MD) T. M. R. Bangsa Jayah refused to quit for the third day running and was seen in office on Friday – the day the new MD Keith Bernard assumed duties, officials said. Mr. Bangsa Jayah on Friday morning had locked his office room and left to 'sort things' out with the 'minister', officials said. It was unclear which minister - Ravi Karunanayake (Finance and his brother-in-law) or Kabir Hashim (with whom the SLIC falls under) he was referring to. (DEC)

All bilateral loans postponed until 2028; President

In his special statement, President Ranil Wickremesinghe announced that debt restructuring agreements will postpone all bilateral loan payments to foreign countries until 2028. Additionally, Sri Lanka will have until 2043 to repay these loans on concessional terms.
