From July 24 to August 23, the Saskia Fernando Gallery in Colombo 7 hosts Chandragupta Thenuwara’s annual exhibition to commemorate Black July 1983.
This year’s exhibition is titled ‘Neo-Glitch’.

Running parallel to his solo show, Thenuwara presents the work of eight artists - all alumni of the University of Visual and Performing Arts.
‘Hereafter’ now on at the JDA Perera Gallery of the UVPA focuses on the development of socio-political consciousness among Sri Lankan artists over five decades. The exhibition continues until August 23.

“Comparative Analysis of the Concept of “Love” in different linguistic cultures - is the subject of a talk by Venerable Dr Waskaduwe Siri Sarana Thero on July 28 at 5.30 p.m. at the Council Room of the Royal Asiatic Society, 96, Ananda Coomaraswamy Mawatha, Colombo 07 (1st floor of the Mahaweli Centre Building).

The Collective for Historical Dialogue and Memory presents two talks this week exploring the politics behind photography practice.
The first talk by photographer Kaushalya Nandasena on July 30 will explore the shifting politics of the Mahaweli villages created during the Mahaweli Development Project in the 1970s.
The second talk by Professor Neelika Jayawardane on July 31 is titled “This is not the correct history” and questions the evidentiary nature of documentary photography, foregrounding the slippery ethics of reading
images of the decades-long civil war in Sri Lanka.
Both talks at 5.30 p.m. at CHDM, 25 Elibank Road, Colombo 5, are free and open to the public.
