‘Climate Positive’, an immersive exhibition brings together the creative responses of ten Lankans shaped by their journeys through forests, communities and disciplines, to move beyond the idea of sustainability to explore the regenerative potential of our time.

The exhibition is the culmination of the Creative Catalyst Fellowship, launched in June 2024 to foster deep inquiry, interdisciplinary collaboration, and cultural stewardship. Over the past year, the fellows took part in a two-week immersive residency followed by hands-on fieldwork alongside conservation scientists, innovators and systems thinkers. The rich body of work they have produced invites reflection, dialogue and reorientation.

The exhibition is on at the Barefoot Gallery Colombo until July 10.

Now on at the J.D.A. Perera Gallery (University of Visual and Performing Arts) on Horton Place is an exhibition presented by the Goethe Institut which turns the spotlight on art and feminism. 31 feminist artist positions will be on view from August 4- 11.

Empowerment: Art and Feminisms  is curated by Andreas Beitin, Katharina Koch und Uta Ruhkamp of Kunstmuseum Wolfsburg with Amruta Nemivant of Goethe-Institut Mumbai.

The seven-chapter exhibition looks at inclusion at all levels and showcases the voices and rights of various gender and social minorities, especially in the context of South Asia.

On August 2, ahead of the official exhibition opening on August 3, an evening programme at 6 p.m. sees a talk titled ‘Woman taking and holding space’, a conversation between Sofia Sansoni and Shanila Alles moderated by Pramodha Weerasekera. It will be followed at 7.30 p.m. by ‘Small talk and rage’ -a performance and DJ-set by Sakina Aliakbar with Tashyana Handy.
