Trail 2016 got underway yesterday from Point Pedro in Jaffna to Dondra Head in Matara with the aim of raising funds to expand the oncology unit at the Karapitiya Hospital in Galle.
The walk is organised by the Colours of Courage Trust, with Dialog Axiata Plc serving as platinum sponsor. Northern Province Chief Minister C.V. Wigneswaran was present at the first day of the walk.
A sum of $ 5 million is expected to be raised through the exercise. According to the official Trail SL website, some
$ 471,000 has already been raised, with 97 walkers registered.
