The cabinet has approved the decision to prohibiting the import of Cinnamon into sri lanka and re export Media Minister Gayantha Karunathilake said.
He said that re exporting cinnomon imported from other countries has been prohibited as there have been reports of re exporting imported Cinnamon and complains about the quality.
Mr Karunathilake said that this has lead to an issue in quality of Cinnomon and therefore a prohibition on importation and a re viewing of the re export procedure was required.
A commitee appointed by the Cabinet will consider temporary importation for export processing procedure. The proposal was made by Minister of Primary industries Daya Gamage.
