Frenchman arrested at BIA with Buffalo skull, horns

A French tourist who tried to take a buffolo skull and two buffolo horns with him on a flight from the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) was taken into custody by Sri Lanka Customs officials today (22).

The skull and horns were discovered while the suspect's baggage was being scanned. Officers from the Customs Bio-Diversity Protection Unit had then taken them and the suspect into custody. 

The suspect, a 56-year-old Frenchman who holds a senior position in the French Police, had told Customs officials that he had purchased the skulls and horns through a friend who lives in Colombo. He said he intended to take the items to France on a request from his son. 

The suspect was released after being warned while the skull and horns were confiscated.
