20th Amendment defeated at Uva PC

The draft 20th Amendment to the Constitution, which aims to hold all Provincial Council Elections on a single day, has been rejected by the Uva Provincial Council.

When the amendment was presented to the PC this morning, 12 Provincial Councilors voted against it while just five votes were cast in favor. 

On Tuesday (22), the North Central Provincial Council approved the 20th amendment by 15 votes to 13.

The amendment was gazetted earlier this month and the draft has now been sent to the PCs for approval.
