Two persons who swindled over Rs 100 million, promising people to get permanent deeds for their lands under the Urumaya programme have been arrested by the Police.
The Criminal Investigations Department had carried out the investigations before they were arrested.
A 43-year-old woman from Bakamuna was arrested in Kiribathgoda while a 55-year-old man was arrested in Maharagama.
The woman has posed as a lawyer and promised 164 businessmen in Kalmunai to get them the deeds for their lands and collected Rs 600.000 each.
The man had collected money from about 50 businessmen in Kalmunai.
The woman has been produced in courts and remanded while the other suspect is due to be produced in courts.
