The Asian Development Bank’s President Masatsugu Asakawa, as part of the 55th ADB Annual Meeting, addressing the media today (Tuesday) said following the IMF programme they will continue to provide another package of assistance to Sri Lanka.
“We are closely working with the government,” he said, adding that Sri Lanka is facing a “very difficult situation and the economy has contracted.”
He pointed out that on September 9 they had already signed an agreement for an emergency assistance loan to provide food to the country.
He reiterated ADB’s support to the nation and noted that they were confident the government is working on seeking assurance from other creditors. (SD)
