Special transport facilities by private operators and the Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) for commuters to return to their villages during the New Year festival season will be put into operation from today, a spokesman for the Transport Ministry said.
Accordingly, 500 additional trips have been organized from today until April 15.
In addition, 350 extra trips on the expressways have also been arranged.
The Transport Ministry expects that 800,000 passengers will use the bus services during this period.
Special bus services will also be available from April 17 to 21 for the return of passengers.
Additional train trips have also been organized.
