The Meteorology Department issuing an advisory for strong winds said fairly strong winds up to (40-50) kmph and gusting up to 60 kmph can be expected in the western slope of Central hills, North-Central and North-Western provinces and in Hambantota and Trincomalee districts.
Windy situation is arising due to the activation of south-west monsoon condition over the island, the advisory said.
Met. Department also requested people who are living in aforementioned areas to be vigilant. The strong winds advisory issued at 1.00 p.m. today (July 26) is valid for next 24 hours.
