Several areas in the country including Western province are to experience thundershowers after 2.00 p.m. today (30), the Meteorology Department forecasted.
The Department said showers or thundershowers will occur at several places over most parts of the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, and Uva provinces and in Galle, Matara, Kurunegala and Anuradhapura districts. Fairly heavy showers above 75 mm can be expected in some places, the met office said.
Public is requested to take adequate precautions to minimise damages caused by temporary localised strong winds and lightning during thunderstorms.
Currently, most parts of the country are experiencing extreme warm weather conditions with Kurunegala recording the warmest (36.2 degrees) yesterday.
