All Grama Sevakas given JP powers
All Grama Sevakas have been given the Powers of Justice of Peace.
Justice Minister Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe, Minister of Justice, Prison Affairs and Constitutional Reforms has issued a Gazette notification to this effect.
Accordingly ‘Every Administrative Grama Niladhari of every Divisional Secretariat Division who is in permanent and active service shall be an ex-official Justice of the Peace…’ the notification said.
