An arrest warrant has been issued on Member of Parliament Wimal Weerawansa today by the Colombo Chief Magistrate Courts after he failed to appear in courts over case pending.
MP Weerawansa failed to appear in Courts over the case where he is charged over an incident where he protested in front of the UN office in Colombo thereby causing a public nuisance during the protest on February 6, 2016.
Mr Weerawansa and six others were charged for protesting at Bullers Road opposite the UN office, on the arrival of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Prince Zaid Raad Al Hussain .
