Former Western Province Governor Azath Salley has been remanded until August 31 by Colombo Chief Magistrate Buddhika Sri Ragala.
Salley, who suffered a cardiac arrest, is presently being treated at the National Hospital, Colombo under police protection.
Salley was arrested by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in March this year over a controversial statement made at a press conference. He was arrested for questioning under the provisions of the Prevention of Terrorism Act (PTA). Mr.Salley is to remain in the hospital under prison authorities.
