A former Secretary to the Ministry of Finance and former Senior Advisor to the Prime Minister, Charitha Ratwatte, arrested by the Bribery Commission over alleged financial misconduct was produced in court and granted bail.
He was arrested over investigations into the procurement of 50 temporary warehouses for the storage of paddy between the 2015 to 2018 period, in violation of standard procurement procedures.
The import of the temporary warehouse through the Sri Lanka State Trading Corporation reportedly cost a loss of Rs 99 million to the state.
Mr Ratwatte served as a Senior Advisor during Ranil Wickremesinghe’s tenure as Prime Minister in 2015.
