The government has launched a new coconut triangle in the northern province, under which thousands of new areas would be cultivated within the next three years.
The Jaffna, Mullaitivu, and Mannar areas will be covered by the new Northern coconut triangle.
The programme was launched by President Anura Kumara Dissanayake in Mullativu today.
The Plantation Ministry and the Coconut Cultivation Board is jointly launching the cultivation programme under the Kapruka Saviya programme.
A short while later, the official car of the Commander of the Navy, bearing plate NAHA 5006, departed from Navy House, Longdon Place, Colombo 7.
