Sri Lanka’s Energy Minister Eng Kumara Jayakody has held discussions with his Indian counterpart on bilateral projects such as the power grid interconnection and the potential for energy exports from Sri Lanka to India.
During a visit by Mr Jayakody to India, bilateral meetings were held with the Indian Minister for Power, Housing & Urban Affairs, Shri Manohar Lal Khattar and Minister of New and Renewable Energy, Shri Pralhad Joshi.
Discussions on further collaboration in the field of new and renewable energy were also held.
Mr Jayakody was in India to attend the 6th International Energy Conference & Exhibition (IECE 2025) organized in New Delhi by Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) in partnership with the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) and the New, Emerging & Strategic Technologies (NEST) Division of the Ministry of External Affairs.
The theme of the Conference was “Driving India’s Energy Transition: Pathway to Net-Zero”.
The Minister addressed the Special Ministerial Plenary Session on ‘Scaling up Solar and Wind for Round-the-Clock Power Supply’.
He also visited the IECE Exhibition where modern technology and best practices in the field of new and renewable energy in India were displayed.
On the sidelines of the conference, the Minister participated in a Roundtable with CXOs of prominent Indian companies in the domain of power and energy. He also met the Chief Managing Director of National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC).
