The Sri Lanka Railway Engine Drivers’ Union called off their strike after putting several thousand commuters into inconvenience for more than six hours.
The Secretary of the Union U.K.Konthasinghe said they ended the strike following discussions with the Railway Department senior official which assured them that the issues would be resolved.
However, due to the sudden strike several train trips had be called off causing difficulty to the commuters including those heading for work on Monday morning.

A Sri Lanka Air Force Bell 212 helicopter belonging to the No. 72 squadron has crashed into the Madhuru Oya reservoir this morning, Air FOrce Media Spokesman Eranda Geeganage said.
Update: Five of the twelve passengers on board the bell 212 aircraft that crashed into the Maduru Oya today, have succumbed to their injuries, the SLAF said.
