The Department of Meteorology issuing General Weather forecast for today, predicted that fair weather could be expected in most areas.
However a few showers in Galle, Matara, Kalutara and Ratnapura districts are expected in the evening or night.
The Department also forecasted that fair weather will prevail over the sea areas around the island as well.
According to them wind speed at the sea would be (20-30) kmph, the direction of the wind could be from North easterly or would be varied.
The state of the sea around the island would be slight to moderate.
A Sri Lanka Air Force Bell 212 helicopter belonging to the No. 72 squadron has crashed into the Madhuru Oya reservoir this morning, Air FOrce Media Spokesman Eranda Geeganage said.
