Preparations for the Local Authorities election are being finalised at polling centers across the country.
Chairman of the Election Commission R.M.A.L. Ratnayake in a statement on the arrangements for the polls, on Monday evening said that all Senior Presiding Officers have reached the polling stations.
He said that the ballot papers too have been sent.
He said the officers who have arrived at the booths would be conducting a rehearsal on voting.
Mr Ratnayake said that carrying of the poll card would not be compulsory, but a valid identity card is necessary.
‘Your vote could be cast by marking a cross in front of the political party or independent group symbol’, he explained.
The polls will open at 7 a.m tomorrow and close by 4 p.m.
More than 17 million voters are eligible to vote in Tuesday’s election.
Around 70,000 police personnel have been deployed on election duty.
