International and regional multilateral organisations, EU and UN are considering the financial mobilisation in Sri Lanka for the forthcoming financial year and the progress of the ongoing economic reform programme, Presidential Secretariat sources said.
The current economic situation and the continuation of foreign financing for the country's development projects were the focus at the roundtable table meeting held under the patronage of President Ranil Wickremesinghe in Colombo today (Tuesday).
The representatives from the international and regional multilateral organisations have convened for a roundtable discussion with the President, Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena and several Sri Lankan government high officials.
The discussion was mainly centered on the government’s reform programmes aimed at moving from crisis to recovery and sustainable economic growth, it was revealed.
The representative of international donor agencies and Sri Lnkan officials discussed challenges, opportunities and commitments for Sri Lanka’s development.
The discussion was attended by representatives of the World Bank (WB), Asian Development Bank (ADB), International Monetary Fund (IMF), Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB), IFCA, Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency (MIGA), Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), USAID, European Union (EU) and the United Nations (UN).
This was a follow-up meeting to the previous roundtable discussion in December 2022. (Bandula),
