Suspects held under detention orders lead police to firearm and drugs

A stock of 'Ice,' Kerala Ganja and a locally manufactured firearm were recovered based on information provided by two suspects being held under detention orders, Police said. 

The two suspects were arrested on September 27 by officers from the Kalutara Division Crime Investigation Unit on charges of maintaining connections with organised criminals and aiding and abetting organised criminals to engage in the drug trade. They were handed over to the Dodangoda Police and detained under detention orders. 

Further investigations into the suspects led to the recovery of a locally manufactured 12-bore shotgun along with two live bullets used for the weapon, 10.25 grams of 'Ice,' a motorbike suspected to have been used to transport narcotics, four vehicle license plates, two revenue licenses and two vehicle insurance certificates. 

The suspects, aged 24 and 30 years, are residents of Kalutara South and Bombuwala. Dodangoda Police are investigating.
