Former MP Hirunika Premachandra was sentenced today for a three year jail period, over an abduction of a youth has been brought to the Welikada Prisons a spokesperson said.
She was sent to section "C" at the Welikada prisons and was due to undergo a medical checkup within the first three hours after admission.
She was found guilty of taking part in the abduction and detention of a young man working in a shop in the Dematagoda area on December 21, 2015.
High Court Judge Amal Ranaraja delivered the sentence.
Earlier seven persons involved in the case pleaded guilty and were given a suspended sentence.
