Former President’s Secretary Saman Ekanayake remanded until Feb 11

Former President’s Secretary Saman Ekanayake was today remanded until February 11 by the Fort Magistrate in relation to the case where former President Ranil Wickremesinghe is alleged to have misused Rs. 16.6 million in state funds during a visit to the UK to attend his wife’s graduation ceremony at the University of Wolverhampton.

Mr Ekanayake was remanded on the allegation that he had released public funds for a private visit of the former President.

Meanwhile the case against the former President was fixed for April 29 after the Attorney Generals Department said that the allegations were still being investigated.
