A former member of the Rathgama Pradheshya Sabha, P.H. Dulaj Tharanga, was shot by two gunmen on a bike, last afternoon, at the Seenigama Devalaya in Hikkaduwa. The Vicitim is also an SJB candidate for the upcoming local elections.
While Mr. Tharanga was visiting a garage behind the Seenigama Temple in his vehicle, a bike with two men had arrived and one of the bikers opened fire.
After having taken two bullets to his shoulder and one to his chest according to hospital sources, the victim has driven himself to the Hikkaduwa police station from where he was rushed to the Karapitya Hospital. Three police stations in the area are currently carrying out investigations.
