Forty two persons have been arrested in respect of the protest march conducted today (4) in front of the Presidential Secretariat, Police said.
Police Spokesman SDIG Ajith Rohana said among the arrested, 26 were males and 16 females.
“The protestors were arrested for violating quarantine rules and regulations in addition to that they have committed certain offences under the Penal Code such as wrongful restraint, being a member of an unlawful assembly and committed offences under the Thoroughfares Act,” he said.
Mr. Rohana said the arrested protesters will be produced before Magistrate Court.
