Accordingly, Parliament will convene at 9.30am on June 30.
The decision to convene Parliament for a special sitting day was taken at the meeting of the Committee on Parliamentary Business held on June 20.
This sitting is scheduled in line with the requirement for the Government to make a statement of revenue strategy consistent with the fiscal strategy statement as specified under Section 11 of the State Finance Management Act, No. 44 of 2024, given that upon obtaining approval of the Cabinet of Ministers under subsection (2), the fiscal strategy statement should be announced by the Minister of Finance at Parliament on or before thirtieth day of June of each year.
Accordingly, under Standing Order 16 of Parliament, based on a request made by the Prime Minister, the Speaker is scheduled to call upon Parliament to convene at 9.30 a.m. on or before June 30th. It was also decided that the adjournment debate related to this matter will be held until 4.30 p.m. on that day, Parliament's Communications Department said earlier.
