Tamizh United Liberation Front (TULF) urged the government to take steps in order to reach a lasting solution for ethnic conflict without any further delay as the government consists of the leaders who led the military campaign that came to an end in 2009.
Issuing a statement, Secretary-General of TULF V. Aananadasangare said that successive governments which came to power since the end of the war in 2009 failed to reach a solution to resolve the ethnic conflict which lasted nearly three decades.
"Those who led the war are the leaders of the country today. This is a good opportunity to resolve the conflict for the betterment of the country while ensuring the rights of minority communities. If this can not resolve, there would not be any government in the future to do. So, I appeal to all necessary stakeholders to come to an agreement and resolve this without any further delay," Mr Aananadasangare stressed.
TULF also alleged that Tamil National Alliance (TNA) failed to protect the interests of the Tamil people despite the people continued to give them a mandate in previous elections.
