Health workers are to stage protests campaigns outside hospitals until their demands for a special allowance similar to doctors are paid.
The protests are instead of the token strike of all health sector workers which is currently on hold due to the Finance Ministry failing to provide a solution for their demand.
They have been told the absence of President Wickremesinghe has delayed a solution.
Speaking to Times Online, Treasurer of the PHI Union Roshan Kumara said that there is no visible evidence that the government does not have sufficient funds to raise their allowance.
Mr. Kumara emphasised that the impact of the strikes resulted in the general public suffering its consequences.
"We will continue to strike next week if our demand is not met" said Mr. Kumara.
