A huge buoy which had landed on the shores of Mundalam Periyapadu was hauled off the coast by using tractors with the help of the Navy on Friday (4) afternoon.
The buoy, which is said to weigh more than 4,000 kilos, is believed to have been used in marking a water area in ports as a ship holder, which would have been washed ashore due to an upheaval causing a certain breakage in the holder, the Navy said.
The Navy made way tirelessly in bringing the buoy ashore off the coast of Periyapadu with the help of tractors and state that it is several years old and has absolutely no connection to the shipwreck 'Pearl Express' which had recently caught fire and is currently sinking, the Navy said.
