A visiting International Monetary Fund (IMF) official briefed the IMF assessment of Sri Lanka’s economy when he met Finance Minister Basil Rajapaksa at the ministry office in Colombo ON Monday, a top official of the ministry divulged.
IMF Asia and Pacific Department Director Changyong Rhee met Finance Minister Basil Rajapaksa along with Treasury Secretary S.R. Atygalle, he said.
Discussions were centred on the country’s foreign exchange position, devaluation of rupee and its current status and inflation targetting measures of the Central Bank.
They also discussed the IMF’s latest review of the economy and the assessment of IMF executive directors at an IMF board meeting in late February. (Bandula)
