The normally bustling private and Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) bus stands in Pettah were mostly deserted today as a ban on inter-provincial travel loomed from midnight today (11).

There were very few commuters and even fewer buses at both stands. A heavy security presence was also seen, with armed security forces personnel on patrol.
